The 2 day event will creatively explore how comedy adapts and engages with times of crisis. The event will include keynote addresses by Dr Kavyta Raghunandan from Leeds Beckett University (on Comedy and the Crises of Racial Injustice) and Dr Helen Davies from University of Wolverhampton (on Comedy as a Coping Mechanism During the Pandemic). Panel topics include: comedy and mental health crises, comedy and identity crises, and comedy and political crises.

In addition, an Industry Panel assembled in collaboration with BCU's Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity will consider the continuing crisis of diversity in UK TV and Radio comedy. This event has been made possible by the support of Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research (BCMCR).

We hope you can join us. The event is free to attend and is open to anyone interested in the topic.

Best wishes,
