Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Media and Film Studies

The Culture and Politics Program ( invites applicants for a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Media and Film Studies, beginning August 2021. Culture and Politics (CULP) in the Walsh School of Foreign Service is an interdisciplinary major that empowers undergraduate students to craft their own thematic concentrations rooted in questions of culture, knowledge, and power. The Fellow will teach one course each semester and will help organize a series of film and media events in the Culture and Politics Program. Compensation is $50,000/yr plus full benefits.

We seek a critical teacher-scholar whose work contributes to anti-colonial, anti-imperial practices by challenging older conceptions of national culture, region, canon, and/or tradition. The postdoctoral scholar should be well-versed in multimodal and transnational methods and technologies that reveal south-south connections and emerging global racial formations. We welcome research that imagines alternative ways of addressing global inequalities, including capitalist dispossession, environmental injustice, unequal access to health and education, and struggles for substantive citizenship and sovereignty. Applicants from all disciplines in the humanities and humanistic social sciences are encouraged to apply.
