Cine Excess XII (Birmingham/UK, 8.-10.11.2018)
CINE EXCESS XII PROGRAMME NOW LIVE
We are delighted to announce the schedule for the Cine-Excess XII International Film Festival and Conference is now live. The event takes place at Birmingham City University and related screening venues in the region between 8th-10th November.
For its 12th annual edition, Cine Excess focuses on global traditions of cult performance, as exercised through a wide range of international case-studies and methodological approaches. The event features a themed 3 day conference, UK theatrical premieres and visiting international filmmakers.
As part of this event, we are pleased to welcome author Victoria Price, who will be accepting a posthumous Cine-Excess Lifetime Achievement in recognition of her late father’s career, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of his influential performance in the 1968 classic Witchfinder General. Also appearing as a guest with Victoria Price will be the legendary British director Pete Walker, who not only directed Vincent Price in the 1983 release House of the Long Shadows, but was also responsible for a range of influential British horror films that included The Flesh and Blood Show (1972), Frightmare (1974) and House of Whipcord (1974).
Alongside the participation of these guests of honour, Cine-Excess XII also hosts the short screening season 'Icons and Emerging Visions, which profiles a range of classic and contemporary instances of cult performance on screen.
