Invitation to Ofcom’s Adults’ Media Literacy research event

Friday 13th July 2018, from 1pm to 4pm

On Wednesday 25th April we published our annual Adults’ Media Use and Attitudes report and the 2018 Adults’ Media Lives report, setting out the latest quantitative and qualitative findings on the ways in which adults use, understand and create media, and how this has changed over time, with a particular focus on those groups that tend not to participate digitally.

We would like to invite you to hear more about the findings, and other current research in the area, at our Adults’ Media Literacy research event on Friday 13th July 2018, from 1pm to 4pm, at Riverside House, London.

The event brings together stakeholders from government, academia, research agencies, the voluntary sector and industry. It will include presentations from Ofcom and researchers from academia and the research sector on a range of areas including:

- the extent to which adults understand and are able to make critical judgments about the media they engage with, including recognising online advertising, awareness of ways in which their personal data can be harvested and evaluation of and trust in online content; and,
- digital exclusion and variations in levels of online engagement, participation and critical understanding among the adult population.
