This workgroup brings together scholars working on the film format Super 8 and its cultural legacy. We focus on the relation between Super 8 and its transnational networks of circulation, usage and preservation. We are especially interested in investigating questions of:

• Home movies and reduction prints circulation 

• Heritage politics / Archives

• Super 8 amateur communities

• Colonial memories

• Anti-imperialist organizations and collectives

• Light media and third-worldism

• Media transference and self-representation of subaltern communities

• Super 8 print cultures

• Political ecology of Super 8
