Arriving in Amsterdam

By Train

Trains arrive at Amsterdam Central Station (Amsterdam Centraal) in the city center. At Amsterdam Central Station you can buy public transportation tickets and load public transport passes (OV-Chipkaart), and transfer directly to the metro, trams, busses, and ferries, as well as other regional and international trains. There are information and retail desks inside the station for the train company, NS, and just outside the station for the bus/ferry/tram company, GVB, and the tourist information office, VVV.  There is luggage storage available inside the station on the Eastern-most end. A taxi stand can also be found at the station.

From Schiphol Airport

Schiphol is well connected via public transportation. There is a train station located in the main courtyard of the airport, along with kiosks and a retail desk to buy tickets and reloadable public transportation passes (OV-Chipkaart – Note that the card must contain a minimum of €20 to ride the train). Buses and taxis are located just outside the terminal.
