Fabryka Sztuki in Lodz is a city culture institution located in the premises of the 19th century factory complex. The organisation was jointly founded in 2006 by the Lodz Art Center Foundation, the Chorea Theatre Association and the Lodz City Hall.
Fabryka Sztuki focuses on cultural and artistic education, theatre, visual arts and music, regularly taking educational and artistic initiatives which have become a permanent fixture in the cultural calendar of Lodz, and organising lectures and meetings with major artistic figures and top-class experts in the fields of arts and culture, as well as seminars, work-shops, performances, concerts and film screenings.
Fabryka Sztuki also realises international projects organised in collaboration with members of Trans Europe Halles, a network uniting European centres of culture, and Culture Action Europe. What is more, Fabryka Sztuki is a co-organiser of artistic events prepared by Lodz art Center (Fotofestival, Lodz Design Festival) and Chorea Theatre Association (the Theatre Festival RETRO/PER/SPEKTYWY).
One of the key aspects of its operation is the professionalization of the cultural and creative sector within the framework of the Art_Inkubator. The Art_Inkubator supports business and artistic ideas of entrepreneurs and institutions operating in the sphere of art and culture. The assembly of numerous innovative enterprises under one roof creates unique opportunities for collaboration and creation. By means of the Art_Inkubator, Fabryka Sztuki may provide assistance at start-up and in the first few years of business operation, which is a critical phase in any company’s history.
The Art_Inkubator in Fabryka Sztuki provides ‘2-in-1′ support, offering both working space and expert advice through access to workshops, training sessions, and business counselling. As a result, beginner entrepreneurs may focus on their work, and at the same time, improve skills and develop professionally. Already 26 young companies found their place here.
Apart from the real working space, a virtual one has also been created, in the form of the dedicated Multimedia Creativity Management Platform which offers working and communication tools, and enables the use of a ‘virtual office’ and a professional knowledge database of culture and business management. It is a comprehensive tool to support the development of entities in the creative industry.
What is more, Art_Inkubator and Fabryka Sztuki are open for suggestions of organising or co-organising different cultural events or those connected to creative industries. Festivals, conferences, meetings, cocktail parties, fairs, symposiums, exhibitions, trainings, workshops, performances and concerts are held every month in the vast spaces of Art_Inkubator.
