Due to the persistent uncertainty caused by the world-wide pandemic, the NECS Steering Committee, in consultation with the NECS 2021 Local Organizing Team, has decided to hold the 2021 Palermo conference entirely online from June 7th to 13th.
The conference theme remains unchanged: Transitions: Moving Images and Bodies. And all papers, panels, and workshops accepted in early Spring of 2020 are automatically accepted to the 2021 conference. In order to maintain the spirit of live discussion and exchange, while addressing organizational needs, we’ve decided to refrain from pre-recorded sessions and hold all panels, workshops and keynote sessions as live online events.
Despite the challenges of holding an online conference with participants from around the globe, we aim to make the best of the online format and its specific affordances. Due to the scale of our conference (featuring over 150 panels), we need to reconsider the programming strategy (also with reference to the date range of June 7-13). Thus we need all the accepted presenters and panel organizers to fill in the registration poll before 10 January 2021. The form will be distributed before the winter holidays.
We are doing our best to provide our membership – scholars from various countries and nationalities – with the most feasible solution for collaboration and the exchange of ideas. We believe this is possible only by ensuring a stable environment in full compliance with the diverse demands and limitations arising during this global pandemic.
